October 7, 2012: Dartmouth President James Wright

Former Dartmouth College President and professor of history James Wright joins us in the studio to tell us about his new book, Those Who Have Borne the Battle: A History of America’s Wars and Those Who Fought Them. In it, he looks at the relationship of America’s non-military citizens to its soldiers, and how that relationship has changed over time. He says that today there is a gap in understanding between Americans who do not serve in the military and those who do — a gap that affects our public policy decisions about wars and the people who fight in them.
